All UW Tacoma staff are members of the UW Tacoma Staff Association (UWTSA), whether permanent, temporary, part-time or full-time. For more eligibility details, please see the most recent bylaws.
The UWTSA Executive Board serves the Staff Association by planning programs, hosting community events, coordinating awards, and participating in campus-wide committees, including the Chancellor's Cabinet and Budget Advisory Committee.
We strive to support fellow staff while building strong partnerships across our unique workplace.

Roles and Responsibilities
The Chair directs all Executive Board affairs and serves as the spokesperson. They also serve as a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet and the Chancellor's Budget Advisory Committee.
The expected commitment of the Chair position is 2-4 hours per week.
The Vice-Chair serves as a member of the Executive Board and assists in leading the Association. The duties and responsibilities of the Vice-Chair include:
- Assuming the responsibilities of the Chair in the Chair’s absence
- Overseeing and coordinating all election processes (including elected Officers, Committee Chairs and Assembly Representatives)
- Overseeing and supporting all UWTSA committees
The expected commitment of the Vice-Chair position is 2 hours per week.
The Secretary serves as a member of the the Executive Board. The duties and responsibilities of the Secretary include:
- Record the proceedings of all UWTSA meetings.
- Distribute meetings to the general membership.
- Coordinate and update the UWTSA website.
- Coordinate the UWTSA email account.
The expected commitment of the Secretary position is 2 hours per week.
The Treasurer serves as a member of the Executive Board. The duties and responsibilities of the Treasurer include:
- Manage the UWTSA budget, including collecting and disbursing all UWTSA funds
- Report on UWTSA financial statuses at least once a quarter
The expected commitment of the Treasurer position is 2 hours per week.
There is an at-large representative for each of the major staff groups on campus: Professional Staff, Classified Staff and Library Staff.
Each of these positions serves as a member of the Executive Board. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Supporting the activities of the UWTSA and its committees
- Serving in an advisory capacity to UW Tacoma Leadership
- Voting on and providing feedback on items of interest for the UWTSA
The expected commitment of the At-large Classified Staff Rep. position is 2 hours per week.
